Product Materials
Recycled : Product is made of post-consumer material and byproducts that have been recovered or diverted from solid waste, and have been utilized in place of raw or virgin material in manufacturing a product.
Organic: Product does not contain any growth hormones, unauthorized synthetic pesticides, antibiotics or synthetic ingredients, and has been produced following organic production processes.
Plastic-free : Product does not contain plastics created from polymerized crude oil.
Refill : Product is designed to be reused and refilled to reduce single use packaging, or is a refill version that’s designed to have less packaging than the initial purchase unit.
Vegan : Product does not contain any animal ingredients or animal-derived ingredients.
Upcycled : By-products, waste, and other unwanted material are reused to create this product.
Packaging
Recycled : Packaging made entirely from material reprocessed from a recovered material.
Recyclable : Packaging that has the ability to be reprocessed into something new once sorted at a material recycling facility (MRF).
Reduced : Packaging weight has been reduced from a previous version, or packaging only includes primary packaging.
Plastic-free : Product does not contain plastics created from polymerized crude oil.
Production
Ethically sourced : Product is created with considerations around supporting human rights, providing decent working conditions, and investing in health, safety, and well-being of workers.
Fair trade : One or more of the ingredients in the product are produced and traded in accordance with global Fair Trade standards.
Cruelty-free : The product and its ingredients have not been tested on animals.
Low-impact transport : Air shipping is not used when sourcing product components, and/or all product components are sourced from the same region in which the final product is made.
Renewables-powered : Product is manufactured with renewable energy (e.g., solar, wind, geothermal) — note that renewable energy certificate purchases do not qualify.
